In a rapidly changing world making a difference is as important as ticking off those goals on your bucket list. But since we are on lockdown, it has been a bumpy ride to get through.

As tough as it may seem for many of us, it doesn’t have to stop because the efforts put in place to flatten the curve on the fast-spreading coronavirus are reportedly working.

We at GLAMOUR caught up with Sasha-Lee Taylor, a 23-year old JHB-based entrepreneur, model and philanthropist, who continues to make the lives of many children in South Africa a little better.

The talented model is offering underprivileged children an opportunity to gain one of life’s most basic skills – being able TO READ!

She also successfully wrote and launched an educational children book called “Learn to Read, Learn to Lead”.

Sasha-Lee shares her top 5 at-home activities that everyone should do to stay motivated, educationally stimulated and entertained.

1. Baking a cake with the family.

This is a fun way of getting the whole family involved in doing something fun and entertaining, and it also helps the creative juices to flow when it’s time to decorate the cake with different icing options. It’s even better when you get to enjoy the sweet treat afterwards – who doesn’t like cake for breakfast, lunch and supper.

2. De-clutter your closets.

Collecting old clothes for the less fortunate for the upcoming winter, is a great way to pass time. Just remember to keep hygiene in mind and always make use of disinfectant when packing various packages for orphanages and shelters. And remember, if you haven’t worn it in at least 5 years, you probably won’t ever wear it again!

3. Now is the time to start that new book.

Remember that book you’ve been meaning to read but never had the time? Now is the chance! I am personally starting a new book by Brene Brown. We all live a very fast paced life and this lockdown could turn out to be a positive thing and be much needed down time for a lot of us to refocus for the rest of the year. Choose a book that will positively motivate you and focus on mental wellness.

4. Start an online course.

Learning something new never goes out of fashion, maybe you always wanted to do a marketing course? Why not start now. YouTube tutorials are also a good way of learning. This is a great time to expand your knowledge especially if it could help potentially grow your career. 

5. Redecorate.

This is the perfect time to rearrange the decor of a room in your house or even repaint a room. I would even suggest getting those hands a little dirty by making a few DIY items of your own. Let the creativity go wild and make the most of the next 2 weeks.
