The annual Franschhoek Literary Festival is one of the highlights of the literary scene in Cape Town. Every year, people travel to the beautiful Franschhoek Valley to attend discussions, debates, talks, and workshops, and to get their hands on the hottest new South African literature.

The festival takes place on the third weekend of May annually, preceded by Book Week for Young Readers. The 2018 Franschhoek Lit Fest takes place between Friday, 18 May and Sunday, 20 May.
The events take place in various venues around the Franschhoek Village, all within walking distance of one another.
Every year the programme is jam-packed with fascinating talks, lectures, and workshops. There are over 130 events associated with the festival. Themes range from social and political issues and economics to conservation, and everything in between. Take a look at the full programme for 2018 here.
